Joshua Jackson Joins The ‘Karate Kid’ Cast To Star Opposite Ralph Macchio And Jackie Chan

Joshua Jackson is making a big comeback to the movie scene, joining the latest ‘Karate Kid’ movie from Sony Pictures.

The new ‘Karate Kid’ film stars Ben Wang, known from the Disney+ series ‘American Born Chinese,’ and features the return of Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio in their iconic roles. While the specifics of Joshua Jackson’s character are yet to be disclosed, it’s reported that he will play a key role in the movie.

With his last film appearance coming out in 2015, Jackson has a strong background in television, where he’s played a variety of characters. He’s recently been seen in ‘Fatal Attraction’ on Paramount+ and ‘Dr. Death’ on Peacock, the latter of which earned him a Critics Choice Award in 2022.

His early movie roles include ‘The Mighty Ducks,’ ‘The Skulls,’ and ‘Cruel Intentions.’

The Production Details So Far

The storyline of the upcoming ‘Karate Kid’ movie is kept under wraps, but it’s known to move the action to the East Coast. The story follows a teenager from China, played by Wang, who learns about life and finds guidance through martial arts, mentored by wise characters.

Directing the movie is Jonathan Entwistle, known for teen dramas ‘I’m Not Okay With This’ and ‘The End Of The F**King World.’ Rob Lieber, who has written for ‘Peter Rabbit’ and ‘Alexander And The Terrible, Horrible, No Good Very Bad Day,’ is the screenwriter for this project.

The movie is produced by Karen Rosenfelt and is set for release on December 13.
