Josh Peck and Drake Bell starred in the Nickelodeon show ‘Drake & Josh’ from 2004 to 2007. Bell said in ‘Quiet On Set’ that the dialogue and acting coach for ‘The Amanda Show,’ Brian Peck, sexually assaulted him. His co-star opened up about the allegations on Instagram:
“I finished the ‘Quiet On Set’ documentary and took a few days to process it. I reached out to Drake privately, but want to give my support for the survivors who were brave enough to share their stories of emotional and physical abuse on Nickelodeon sets with the world.”
He added in his statement:
“Children should be protected. Reliving this publicly is incredibly difficult, but I hope it can bring healing for the victims and their families as well as necessary change to our industry.”
He Didn’t Comment Before Because…
Peck’s absence from the documentary led to speculation. Fans bombarded his TikTok and Instagram with questions about his lack of support for his former co-star. This made Bell post a TikTok video telling fans that Peck did support him privately.
The actor said in the video:
“I just want you guys to know that he has reached out to me, and it’s been very sensitive. He has reached out to talk with me and help me work through this, and has been really, really great.”
Bell also said his anonymous testimony helped convict his abuser in 2004.
Schneider Is ‘Sorry’
Dan Schneider produced ‘Drake & Josh’ and several other Nickelodeon shows. The documentary also accused him of inappropriate behavior with young actors and being mean to the cast and crew.
Schneider spoke about the allegations before Peck’s Instagram post. In a recent chat with BooG!E, he said he felt ashamed of his past actions. He mentioned that he didn’t hire Brian Peck and felt sorry for what Bell went through:
“When Drake and I talked, and he told me about what happened, I was more devastated by that than anything that ever happened to me in my career thus far. And I told him, ‘I’m here for you.’”
The Cast Members Don’t Believe The Apologies
Alexa Nikolas criticized Schneider’s remarks about ‘Quiet On Set’ and his time at Nickelodeon. The former ‘Zoey 101’ actress said she would have preferred a private apology from the producer, rather than a public statement.
She said the following in a YouTube livestream:
“I don’t even feel any remorse from him. He’s not even crying. I know everyone deals with their own emotions in their own way, but I don’t feel anything from you, Dan. I don’t feel a thing.”
A Nickelodeon spokesperson told CBS News that the network cannot confirm or deny the claims from shows made decades ago. They suggested it’s hard to look into accusations about events that happened so long ago.
