Jeremy Renner recently shared how difficult it was to return to acting after a terrible accident.
Renner went back to work on the third season of ‘Mayor of Kingstown’ in January. He thought he recovered enough, but soon realized he was wrong. He recently told the LA Times that he even fell asleep while filming. This was apparently too much for the actor:
“They go, ‘And action!’ And I was out. We realized they worked me too hard, too many hours, too many days in a row. What I’m willing to do is everything, but what I’m able to do is a different thing.”
The production team changed the filming schedule to help Renner. They made it so he didn’t have to fly to the set as often because jet lag was making things harder for him. Renner joked:
“They have to treat me like I’m a child actor. The mayor of Kingstown is now like a 14-year-old.”
Renner’s MCU Future Is Unclear
Renner played Hawkeye in many Marvel movies and had his own spinoff series on Disney+. There’s no official news about his return, but Renner said he’s ready to come back if Marvel wants him:
“I’m always game. I’m gonna be strong enough, that’s for sure. I’ll be ready. All those guys come to my bedside and they’ve been with me all along through this recovery, so… if they want me, they could have me. It would be something.”
Renner had a snowplow accident on New Year’s Day in 2023. He was trying to keep his nephew safe when he was crushed by the vehicle. The accident left him with 38 broken bones and a collapsed lung. You can read the details of the accident here.
The first two seasons of ‘Mayor of Kingstown’ are available on Paramount+. The third season will be released on June 2, 2024.
