Live-Action Nova Adaptation Gets Green Light From Marvel Exec

Marvel Studios confirms that Nova project is still in development.

Marvel Studios is cutting down on the number of new shows and movies, but they have exciting news for fans of Nova.

Brad Winderbaum shared updates about the live-action Nova project while speaking to Screen Rant. Winderbaum said that Nova is still in development and that Marvel Studios is very excited about it:

“‘Nova’ certainly is exciting to us, we’ve got some great ideas simmering. I think there’s a lot of potential there. I love Nova, also, from the comics, especially the Richard Rider era… we’ll see what happens.”

He also said that there are only so many new projects that can be made each year, so there’s no guarantee that Nova will be one of them:

“There are only so many release slots in the schedule, but we want to make sure everything we make is as good as it could possibly be. But I will say that is a particular project we are excited about and excited about developing.”

The Nova project has been in the works for some time, and it seems it may become a live-action series on Disney+.

Marvel Will Have Fewer Releases

Disney CEO Bob Iger explained that Disney plans to slow down the number of Marvel shows and movies they release each year. He says the goal is to focus on making higher-quality content:

“I’ve been working hard with the studio to reduce output and focus more on quality, that’s particularly true with Marvel. We’re slowly going to decrease volume and go to about two TV series a year instead of what had become four, and reduce our film output from maybe four a year to two or at the maximum three. We’re working hard on what that path is.”

There is no final decision yet on whether Nova will be made. Marvel Studios is halfway through MCU Phase 5, and they plan to introduce new names and stories in the upcoming projects.
