Jack Quaid revealed auditioning for the title role in James Gunn’s upcoming ‘Superman’ film during a recent appearance on the ‘Happy Sad Confused’ podcast. He recalled:
“I didn’t get very far. I put myself on tape and it went nowhere, and that’s fine. I’m totally cool with it.”
The Actor Thinks The Studio Cast The Right Person
‘The Boys’ actor voiced Superman in Adult Swim’s animated series, ‘My Adventures with Superman,’ instead. David Corenswet got the part in the live-action movie. Quaid commented:
“I know David Corenswet. He’s one of those people you meet, and you go, ‘Oh yeah…whenever they need another [Superman], it’s probably going to be you.’”
New ‘Superman’ Film Is In The Works
Warner Bros. confirmed Corenswet’s casting in June 2023. Other cast members included Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Isabela Merced as Kendra Saunders / Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt / Mr. Terrific, and Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen.
Filming for ‘Superman’ began earlier this year, and the first look at Corenswet’s Superman costume came in May. The film is set for release on July 11, 2025.
