Sarah Paulson Calls Her Role In ‘Impeachment: American Crime Story’ Her ‘Best Work’ Despite Criticism

The actress led the 2021 retelling of the sex scandal involving President Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky.

Sarah Paulson reflected on her career and previous roles including the one in ‘Impeachment: American Crime Story’ during a recent Q&A session following the screening of her new thriller film ‘Hold Your Breath.’

When asked if her approach to acting changed based on different projects, the actress shared (per THR), “Sure, I do actually and I have since I played Linda Trip in [the FX series].”

While the real Linda Tripp’s daughter, Allison, praised both the show’s portrayal of her mother and Paulson’s performance, the third season of ‘American Crime Story’ received mixed reactions, holding a 69% critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Referring to the feedback, the actress continued, “Nobody liked that program and nobody liked me in it except for me. Critically, they were like, ‘She suuucks.’ But to me, it’s the greatest work that I’ve ever done—to me.”

The ‘Impeachment’ cast also featured Beanie Feldstein as Monica Lewinsky, Margo Martindale as Lucianne Goldberg, Edie Falco as Hilary Clinton, Clive Owen as Bill Clinton, and Annaleigh Ashford as Paula Jones. Ashford recently reunited with Paulson in Karrie Crouse and Will Joines’ ‘Hold Your Breath.’

Following September premieres at the Toronto Film Festival and Beyond Fest, the psychological thriller will hit theaters on October 3.
