Aaron Pierre shared his thoughts about being cast as John Stewart in ‘Lanterns.’
HBO recently confirmed that ‘Lanterns’ will feature Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan and Pierre as John Stewart.
Pierre took to Instagram after the news was confirmed. He wrote, “Tremendously honored and abundantly grateful. A dream come true. Thank you all for the love and beautiful energy. Thank you for welcoming me to DC. Let’s work!” He also shared an image of John Stewart from the ‘Justice League’ animated series alongside one of his own headshots. James Gunn and Tom King left comments below the post to welcome him to the DC Universe. Gunn also sent a message to Chandler.
Aaron Pierre currently stars in Netflix’s ‘Rebel Ridge.’ It debuted last month and was the top show on the platform worldwide for three weeks. He also finished work on Disney’s ‘Mufasa: The Lion King,’ where he plays the lead character. Pierre thinks working on different projects helps him grow as an actor. He says lessons learned from one role often influence how he approaches the next.
‘Lanterns’ is a detective-style show where John Stewart and Hal Jordan investigate a dark mystery on Earth. The show’s been compared to ‘True Detective’ for its serious tone and is expected to stand out from other superhero projects. The show’s creative team includes Chris Mundy (‘Ozark’ and ‘True Detective: Night Country’), Damon Lindelof (Watchmen), and Tom King, an award-winning comic book writer.
HBO’s ‘Lanterns’ is the first live-action series in the new DC Universe, and the network is excited to launch this new era.
