Chad Stahelski talked about his experience working with Keanu Reeves in a recent chat with People for the 10th anniversary of the first ‘John Wick’ movie.
“You see him in ‘John Wick’ and he seems very stoic and very serious,” he shared. “When the camera cuts, he is very professional. It is always, ‘Okay, how is that? What can we do to make it better?’”
The director, who has known Reeves since working as his stunt double in 1999’s ‘The Matrix,’ also cleared up the misconceptions about the actor by saying, “What are the memes out there? ‘Sad Keanu’ and lonely. … He’s actually a very happy, enthusiastic, incredibly positive guy.”
Stahelski referred to a 2010 photo that went viral online and showed Reeves looking thoughtful as he sat alone on a bench, eating a sandwich. Discussing the meme on ‘The Late Show,’ the actor offered a simple explanation: “I’m just eating a sandwich, man! I was thinking. I had some stuff going on. I was hungry.”
Reeves and Stahelski collaborated on all four ‘John Wick’ films and the prequel series, ‘The Continental.’ They are now producing the spinoff movie ‘Ballerina.’
