20th Century Fox boss Steve Asbell discussed upcoming projects for the Disney-owned studio in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
When asked if ‘Free Guy 2’ was on the way, he replied, “Not yet. [Shawn Levy and Ryan Reynolds] have to come up with an idea. And they’re just busy.”
Ryan Reynolds and Shawn Levy produced ‘Free Guy’ along with Sarah Schechter, Greg Berlanti, and Adam Kolbrenner. Reynolds also starred in the movie opposite Jodie Comer, Lil Rel Howery, Taika Waititi, Channing Tatum, and Joe Keery.
The film’s plot centered on a bank teller who discovers he’s an NPC in an online game and teams up with a player to expose a gaming company’s CEO for stealing game code.
Big names like Chris Evand and Lara Spencer made cameo appearances in the 2021 original. Evans also appeared in Reynolds and Levy’s latest project, ‘Deadpool and Wolverine.’
“I mean, honestly, I would do anything Ryan asked,” the Captain America actor said of his return as Johnny Storm in August. “He gave me a great cameo in ‘Free Guy’ already, and I just trust him completely. So, the chance to be Johnny again, I couldn’t pass up. I loved it. It was fun to shoot, fun to watch, all of it.”
Reynolds now has several projects lined up, including ‘Animal Friends’ set to release in 2025. Levy is set to produce the comedy series ‘Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Road Trip’ for Disney+.
