Multiple women accused Armie Hammer of rape and sexual misconduct in 2021, with one of which, Effie, revealed his alleged messages detailing cannibalistic fantasies.
Since then, Hammer denied the accusations, and the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office said they would not charge him with Effie’s claims. Still, rumors that the actor was a cannibal spread quickly, and he finally made peace with it.
The ‘Call Me By Your Name’ star addressed the talks on his new podcast ‘Armie HammerTime,’ saying, “I’m not gonna lie. I’m just like, ‘Hey, I’m a cannibal.’ What makes more noise? ‘Armie Hammer is a cannibal,’ or ‘Armie Hammer might not be a cannibal?’”
“You don’t get an apology tour in this world. Someone says something about you, everyone believes it and then they move on with their lives to whatever it is that they’re focused on, because they’ve got their own lives,” he added.
Hammer lost multiple projects as well as his agent and publicist following the allegations. Though he described the whole ordeal as a necessary challenge that ‘liberated’ him, his financial situation even forced him to sell his truck due to gas expenses, as he revealed in August.
Moreover, reports from July 2022 claimed that the actor started working as a timeshare salesman in the Cayman Islands to support his family.
Hammer denied the claims of sexual misconduct from Courtney Vucekovich and Paige Lorenze in 2021 but admitted that he ‘one million percent’ emotionally abused them. He also revealed attempting suicide following the allegations.
