Born on April 5, 1935, in New York, USA, Stanley Sandler spent most of his professional life working as an electrical engineer. Though he didn’t pursue a career in the entertainment industry, it seems the apple didn’t fall far from the tree when it came to his son, Adam.

Stanley married the lovely Judith Levine, a nursery school teacher. Together, they had four children: Scott, Elizabeth, Valerie, and Adam. The family eventually moved to Manchester, New Hampshire, where they created a loving and supportive home for their kids.

Occasional Acting Career

While not primarily an actor, Stanley did make a couple of appearances in films. He had roles in ‘Eight Crazy Nights’ (2002) and ‘Nicotine Bees’ (2010). It’s clear that his son’s passion for acting and comedy influenced him to take on these occasional parts.

Stanley was a strong supporter of Adam’s career, providing encouragement and advice as he navigated the world of comedy and Hollywood. Adam has paid tribute to his father in various ways, including dedicating the song ‘Lunchlady Land‘ to him and his 1999 film ‘Big Daddy.

Stanley Sandler’s Battle With Lung Cancer

Sadly, Stanley was diagnosed with lung cancer and underwent treatment for the disease. Losing his battle against cancer, he died on September 9, 2003. This challenging time had a significant impact on the family, but they remained united and supportive throughout his battle.

Stanley’s legacy lives on through the memories of his family and the continued success of his son, Adam. One of the most touching tributes from Adam came in the form of a special dedication at the end of ’50 First Dates’ (2004), which read:

“This movie is dedicated to Stanley Sandler. My father, my mentor, my teacher, my coach, my idol, my hero, my family’s leader, my mom’s best friend, and by far the coolest guy I will have ever known. We will miss you every day, but we will always try to make you proud.
