Jack O’Connell Reveals His Only Condition For Being The Next James Bond

O’Connell said he would only accept the role if he likes the script and the director.

As speculation swirls around who will be the next James Bond, Jack O’Connell spoke to Total Film and voiced his openness to stepping into the role, but on certain conditions.

O’Connell, who appeared in roles ranging from the British teen series ‘Skins’ to the film ‘Ferrari,’ is among the names rumored as a potential successor to Daniel Craig. However, in conversations with Total Film, the actor said that his interest in the role of 007 relies not just on the opportunity itself but on the quality of the project:

“Listen, if something like that comes my way, sure. I’d just treat it the same way: I’d read it, see who’s directing. Do they want me? Cool. Let’s chat. Is the script belting? Then cool. OK, let’s definitely chat. It’s not something I’m going to turn my nose up at. I’m sure there’s a long, long list. I’m sure that list is highly competitive, and I’m sure that there are some phenomenal actors being considered for it. If I’m somewhere along that list – brilliant. That, in itself, is an achievement.”

The actor, set to appear in the upcoming Amy Winehouse biopic ‘Back to Black,’ remains skeptical about his chances, as the decision ultimately lies beyond his control.

When Will Be the Next James Bond Movie?

According to franchise producer Barbara Broccoli, the search for the next James Bond is underway, but without haste. Following Craig’s final appearance as the spy in 2021’s ‘No Time To Die,’ the franchise is taking its time for the next chapter. The franchise previously benefited from intervals between films, such as the six-year gaps before ‘GoldenEye’ and after ‘Spectre.’

The James Bond franchise has seen its fair share of casting rumors and fan theories with each change of guard. Not that long ago, Henry Cavill said he might have lost the opportunity to be among the potential cast for the movie due to his appearance in ‘Argylle,’ but this remains a speculation.

With the next James Bond film, dubbed ‘Bond 26’ by fans and followers, still in the early stages of development, fans have a wait ahead of them. As for the Amy Winehouse biopic ‘Back to Black,‘ it’s set to hit theaters on April 12.
