Jamie Kennedy Is Furious About Melissa Barrera’s ‘Scream’ Firing: ‘Complete Bullsh-t’

Kennedy recently spoke about the controversy surrounding ‘Scream 7,’ and Neve Campbell’s return to the franchise.

Melissa Barrera was let go from ‘Scream 7’ after posting comments about the Gaza war on social media. Jamie Kennedy recently shared his thoughts about the decision with ‘The Thing With Two Heads’ podcast:

“Melissa is a beautiful person. Her getting fired was bullsh-t. It’s complete f-cking bullsh-t. And I’ve never seen anything like it in this town, to have a rising star get fired in the middle of their ascension for an opinion. And I don’t think it was that wild of an opinion… She was basically saying, ‘I don’t want to see people get hurt on either side.’”

He’s Happy For His Co-Star, Though

The news of Neve Campbell’s return as Sidney Presscott in the upcoming movie broke after Barrera’s exit. The Randy Meeks actor also commented on this by saying:

“With that being said, can I be happy for Neve, and sad for Melissa? Both things can be true… I can love for Neve, and feel for Melissa. I’m happy for Neve, I want to see ‘Scream’ thrive, it’s bullsh-t that Melissa got fired, I think she’ll be back. If not, I think she will soar.”

The original ‘Scream’ writer Kevin Williamson is set to direct the seventh movie. ‘Scream 7’ still doesn’t have a release date but is expected to begin production in fall.

This Might Be A Reunion For The Cast

Courteney Cox might be another name to come back for the new sequel, according to Variety.

The actress played Gale Weathers in all of the previous films. She celebrated Campbell’s return in an Instagram post in early March:

“Sidney Prescott is coming back! It’s always been such a blast and an honor to get to play Sidney in the ‘Scream’ movies. My appreciation for these films and for what they have meant to me, has never waned. I’m very happy and proud to say I’ve been asked, in the most respectful way, to bring Sidney back to the screen and I couldn’t be more thrilled.”

Neve Campbell led the first four ‘Scream’ films and was a supporting actress in the fifth. She didn’t appear in the last installment over a salary dispute.
