Lionsgate is getting ready to remake ‘American Psycho,’ and they have some big names attached to the project.
According to Collider, ‘Call Me By Your Name’ director Luca Guadagnino is in talks to direct the new adaptation. The screenplay will be written by Scott Z. Burns. Burns previously worked on movies like ‘The Report’ and ‘Contagion.’
This remake will be based directly on Bret Easton Ellis’ original novel. Guadagnino plans to take his inspiration from the book rather than other adaptations of the story.
The novel tells the story of Patrick Bateman, a wealthy investment banker who secretly becomes a violent killer. The original movie is directed by Mary Harron and stars Christian Bale as Bateman.
Luca Guadagnino has been busy with different projects in the last few years. His most recent film, ‘Challengers,’ was about two professional tennis players and their complicated relationship with another person. The movie starred Zendaya, Mike Faist, and Josh O’Connor, and made a big impact when it was released.
After ‘American Psycho,’ Bale became famous for starring as Batman in Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Dark Knight’ trilogy. Now, Luca Guadagnino will now have to find a new actor to play Bateman in this remake.
Lionsgate has not set a release date for the new ‘American Psycho’ movie.
