Nicolas Cage Reportedly In Talks For Lead Role In Live-Action Spider-Man Show

Cage might soon be playing a superhero again, but this time in a Spider-Man series set in the 1930s.

According to recent reports from industry sources, Nicolas Cage is in serious discussions to star in a new live-action series set within the Spider-Man universe.

This project, ‘Spider-Man Noir,’ is gaining momentum and is set in the backdrop of 1930s New York City. As per The Ankler, ‘Spider-Man Noir’ is part of a series of live-action Marvel-Sony co-productions. With Amazon greenlighting this project, expectations are high.

‘Spider-Man Noir’ is one of two live-action Spider-Man shows currently in development for Prime Video. The other, ‘Silk: Spider Society,’ underwent changes recently, including a complete overhaul of its writer’s room. This series focuses on Cindy Moon, a Korean-American heroine bitten by the same spider as Peter Parker.

Details on the storyline for ‘Spider-Man Noir’ remain under wraps, but Cage’s involvement is expected to receive attention following his performance in ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ and its upcoming sequel, ‘Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.’

Cage Won’t Return as Superman in the Future

This project follows Cage’s cameo as Superman in 2023’s ‘The Flash.’ However, the actor confirmed last month that he will not be revisiting his role as Superman. This decision follows his expressed concerns over the use of CGI in his scenes, especially in ‘The Flash.’

Despite this, Cage’s career continues with several projects in the pipeline and an openness to exploring television roles.

Moreover, Cage has shared his regrets about not collaborating creatively with Stan Lee, whom he referred to as a ‘surrealist father.’ Despite a close relationship with Lee, a project between the two never materialized.
