Serena Williams Enters Avatar State And Destroys Tennis Court In New ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ Promo

Tennis superstar has teamed up with the world of Avatar to step up her game.

A 30-second commercial that aired during the NBA All-Star Game last Sunday has become the talk of the town.

The advertisement, promoting Netflix’s much-anticipated ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ series, featured Serena Williams on a tennis court, bending fire, air, water, and earth in the Avatar State while practicing.

Williams Is A Fan

Following the ad, Netflix released a behind-the-scenes video on X. This video offered fans a peek into the making of the promo, as it showed the tennis player sporting Aang’s glowing arrows.

During the BTS footage, Williams shared her excitement for being part of the project:

“I am on the set of ‘Avatar.’ They were like, ‘Do you wanna do this?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m obsessed with the show.”

The Live-Action Adaptation

The upcoming Netflix series is an adaptation of the popular Nickelodeon animated series of the same name. This project has been in the pipeline since 2018 and is set to premiere on February 22.

The cast includes Gordon Cormier as Aang, Kiawentiio Tarbell as Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka, Dallas Liu as Zuko, and Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Uncle Iroh. Netflix has been gradually introducing the characters to the audience with a first look at Aang and his friends in June 2023.
