Confirmed: House Of The Dragon Season 2 Release Date And Cast Info Revealed

Warner Bros. Discovery has finally announced when the second season of the ‘Game Of Thrones’ spinoff ‘House Of The Dragon’ will hit screens.

The update came from the company’s streaming and gaming boss during an industry event. During Morgan Stanley’s Technology, Media, and Telecom conference on Monday, J.B. Perrette shared that ‘House Of The Dragon’ Season 2 is set to premiere in June on HBO.

Though the executive didn’t give a specific date, his update offered the most concrete information yet regarding the show’s return. Previously, HBO’s Casey Bloys hinted at an ‘early summer’ premiere, while WB Discovery CEO David Zaslay suggested a release ‘next quarter’ in February.

Season 2 Filming Has Already Started

The first season of ‘House Of The Dragon,’ which aired from August 21 to October 23, 2022, was a hit. It received a green light for a second season just one week after the series premiered, thanks to its impressive ratings.

Filming for the second season began on April 11, 2023, at Warner Bros.’ Leavesden Studios. Despite industry-wide delays due to strikes by the Writers Guild of America and the SAG-AFTRA, the production of the series continued smoothly because the scripts were ready before filming started.

The Show’s Plot And New Cast

‘House Of The Dragon’ is based on George R.R. Martin’s book ‘Fire & Blood’ and explores the history of the Targaryen dynasty in Westeros, around 200 years before the ‘Game Of Thrones’ series and a century after the Targaryens united the Seven Kingdoms.

The cast for the upcoming season includes both returning and new actors. Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, and many others will reprise their roles from the first ten episodes. As newcomers, Abubakar Salim, Gayle Rankin, Freddie Fox, and Simon Russell Beale will join the ensemble.
