Henry Cavill Explains Taylor Swift’s Connection With ‘The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare’

Cavill’s new film after ‘Argylle’ is also connected to the ‘Shake It Off’ singer.

Henry Cavill’s latest film’s premiere coincides with Taylor Swift’s eleventh album release. ‘The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare’ and ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ will both come out on April 19.

Cavill says the situation is not a coincidence this time. He recently told E! News:

“That’s the second time, sort of, I’ve been tied in with Taylor because of ‘Argylle.’ There was everyone who thought that the book was written by her. And so, now this.”

The actor revealed that the movie’s director, Guy Ritchie, is a Swift fan:

“He was super excited about that date.”

Swift’s Involvement In The Actor’s Work

Cavill’s previous film, ‘Argylle,’ came out in February 2024. The film was reportedly based on an unpublished book series by Elly Conway.

The author was off the radar until recent months. So, some suggested online that Conway was Taylor Swift’s secret persona. E! News asked the Argylle actor if the rumors were debunked, and he shared:

“Matthew did, and she did. She did not write the book.”

Cavill also noted that Swift was ‘magnificent’ and he ‘was never not a Swiftie.’

The ‘Argylle’ Rumors

Vox pointed out at the height of speculation that ‘Argylle’ had a Taylor Swift vibe from her previous works. The website mentioned how Bryce Dallas Howard’s Elly Conway looked a lot like the singer’s red-haired writer in ‘All Too Well: The Short Film.’

The movie Conway and Swift also had the same breed of cats. The Scottish Fold in ‘Argylle’ belonged to Matthew Vaughn and his wife, but the director confirmed that he was inspired by the pop singer to use it.

Vaughn explained to Billboard that his family got the cat after watching ‘Miss Americana.’
