Ted Lasso’s Hannah Waddingham Roasts Photographer After Rude Remark

Waddingham did not tolerate a photographer’s rude comment about her appearance.

Hannah Waddingham had to deal with a rude photographer on a sunny Sunday at the Olivier Awards.

She was recorded standing up to a photographer while walking the red carpet. The photographer then made a rude comment about her appearance, and the video of this encounter quickly spread across the internet.

Hannah was at the awards also as its host for the second year in a row. She even performed a musical number with Joe Stilgoe to kick off the night. But it was her response to the photographer that went viral. Hannah can be heard saying in the video:

“Oh my God, you’d never say that to a man. Don’t be a d*ck. Otherwise, I’ll move off. Don’t say, ‘Show me leg.’ No.”

She then shook her head and walked away from the photographer. You can watch it below.

Hannah Says She Always Stood Up For Herself

Hannah recently joined an interview on the BBC Radio 2 podcast ‘Michelle Visage’s Rule Breakers.’ As per CBR, she shared when a drama teacher told her she wouldn’t make it on screen because of her looks. This hurt her feelings for many years, but it also made her work even harder. Her efforts paid off, and she won an Emmy for her role in ‘Ted Lasso’:

“This is why, in my Emmys speech, I made a point. The one thing I said to myself, if this weird moment comes and I get this award, and I get my foot in this door, I’m going to rip it off its hinges for music theater people, or theater people, to follow.”

Waddingham also appeared in ‘Game of Thrones,’ ‘Sex Education,’ and ‘Les Misérables.’ She will soon be in ‘The Fall Guy’ and ‘Mission: Impossible 8.’

Other talents were celebrated at the Olivier Awards, too. Lenny Henry won Best Director, Billy Crudup was named Best Actor, Denise Gough took home Best Actress, and Patricia Clarkson and Brian Cox won for Best New Play.
