Sydney Sweeney Can’t Act And She’s Not That Pretty, Hollywood Producer Claims

‘The Shining’ and ‘Dead Ringers’ producer is not a fan of the ‘Madame Web’ actress.

Carol Baum publicly criticized Sydney Sweeney during a recent post-screening event of 1988’s ‘Dead Ringers.’ The Hollywood producer reportedly watched Sweeney’s ‘Anyone But You’ on a plane and found it ‘unwatchable.’ She commented:

“I don’t get Sydney Sweeney. I wanted to know who she is and why everybody’s talking about her.”

Baum asked her students at the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts about the actress:

“I said to my class, ‘Explain this girl to me. She’s not pretty, she can’t act. Why is she so hot?’ Nobody had an answer.”

The ‘Euphoria’ Actress’ Response

Sweeney shot back at the producer shortly after her comments went viral. Her representative said in a press release:

“How sad that a woman in the position to share her expertise and experience chooses instead to attack another woman. If that’s what she’s learned in her decades in the industry and feels is appropriate to teach to her students, that’s shameful.”

The statement went on:

“To unjustly disparage a fellow female producer speaks volumes about Ms. Baum’s character.”

Sweeney’s Acting Career

Sydney Sweeney’s roles as Cassie Howard in ‘Euphoria’ and Olivia Mossbacher in ‘The White Lotus’ got her two Emmy nominations in 2022.

2023’s ‘Anyone But You’ received mixed reviews but became the highest-grossing R-rated romantic comedy since ‘Bridget Jones’s Baby’ in 2016.

Sweeney is currently involved in the ‘Barbarella’ reboot. She is both leading and producing the new movie.
