Mark Ruffalo Thinks ’13 Going On 30’ Was More Important Than ‘Hulk’ For His Career

The romantic-comedy came out in 2004 and became a cult classic.

Mark Ruffalo recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of ‘13 Going On 30’ by joining a video chat with co-stars Jennifer Garner and Judy Greer. The trio shared how the film affected their careers in an Instagram video. The Hulk actor said:

“There’s two types of people in this world. There’s Hulk people, and there’s ‘13 Going On 30’ people, and I get equal amounts. Way more ‘13 Going On 30.’”

The Rom-Com Was Well-Received

‘13 Going On 30’ followed Jenna who woke up as a 30-year-old woman after wishing to be an adult on her birthday. She soon found out that her life completely changed and her childhood friend, Matt (Ruffalo), was no longer in it.

Gary Winick directed the script by Cathy Yuspa and Josh Goldsmith. The rom-com brought in $97.6 million worldwide on a $37 million budget.

It currently holds 64% from critics and 71% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes.

Ruffalo As The Marvel Hero

Mark Ruffalo started playing Bruce Banner/Hulk in 2012’s ‘The Avengers’ and was last seen in the role in Disney+’s ‘She-Hulk.’

It’s currently unclear if Ruffalo will reprise the role in future MCU projects. There are rumors of his return in ‘Captain America: Brave New World, but nothing is confirmed.

The actor also denied the talks about a ‘World War Hulk’ movie. He revealed at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival in February:

“Yeah. Kevin [Feige] was like, ‘What would you like to do?’ And he said, ‘What would you do if you had a standalone Hulk movie?’ I said, ‘Well, I’d like to take him from this raging maniac to kind of this integrated character.’ And he’s like, ‘Okay. We’ll do that over the course of four movies. We’ll never give you a standalone Hulk… Don’t mean to burst your bubble, but that’s just not going to [happen]… So, we’ll do it over four movies, how does that sound?’”

Ruffalo’s latest film, ‘Poor Things,’ premiered last year and got four wins at the 96th Academy Awards.
