Austin Butler Is Rumored To Be Disney’s Strongest Candidate For Pirates Of The Caribbean Reboot

Disney is eyeing Butler for a lead role in the franchise reboot.

The DisInsider recently wrote that Disney is interested in working with Butler on a high-profile project. The studio reportedly considered the ‘Dune: Part Two’ actor for the live-action ‘Hercules’ and the rebooted ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ at one point.

The article didn’t reveal whether Butler received an official offer to appear in either project.

The Cast News Are Waiting Confirmation

Previous rumors suggested Margot Robbie in the lead cast of the upcoming ‘Pirates’ film, but the actress shared doubts that the project would ever take off. She told Vanity Fair:

“We had an idea, and we were developing it for a while, ages ago, to have more of a female-led – not totally female-led, but just a different kind of story – which we thought would have been really cool. But I guess they [Disney] don’t want to do it.”

The reboot plans are still up, but Disney is yet to reveal a cast. News claim Ayo Edebiri is considered for a big role in the franchise though nothing is confirmed.

Next Film Will Be A Total Reboot

Fans previously believed Johnny Depp was in talks to bring Captain Jack Sparrow for a guest appearance in the upcoming film, but latest word says it will be a complete reboot without any established characters.

Meanwhile, Austin Butler will return to theaters on June 21, 2024, with a new movie called ‘The Bikeriders.’ The actor is also currently working with Joaquin Phoenix and Pedro Pascal for Ari Aster’s ‘Eddington.’
