Jonathan Majors is facing tough times, but he’s about to receive an important award.
Majors is no longer a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but he will be honored at the Hollywood Unlocked Impact Awards on June 21 in Los Angeles. As per The Hollywood Reporter, they will give Majors the ‘Perseverance Award,’ which goes to someone who keeps trying to inspire others despite challenges.
This award is part of an event that celebrates contributions to the Black community in music, film, media, politics, social issues, and creative industries. The event was founded by Hollywood Unlocked CEO Jason Lee, and it has honored many famous names like Chlöe Bailey, Whoopi Goldberg, and Lizzo in the past.
He Tries To Clear His Name
Majors was found guilty of intentional assault in the third degree and aggravated harassment in the second degree. This was after a fight with his then-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. Majors was sentenced in April to complete a 52-week, in-person domestic violence intervention program. He maintained his innocence throughout this ordeal.
Majors’ lawyer Priya Chaudhry stated that the jury did not fully believe Jabbari’s story:
“It is clear that the jury did not believe Grace Jabbari’s story of what happened in the SUV because they found that Mr. Majors did not intentionally cause any injuries to her. We are grateful for that. We are disappointed, however, that despite not believing Ms. Jabbari, the jury nevertheless found that Mr. Majors was somehow reckless while she was attacking him.”
Majors is thankful for the support from his family, friends, and fans and hopes to clear his name completely.
Majors’ Hollywood career slowed down after the guilty verdict and other allegations of physical and emotional abuse. He’s been seen making public appearances recently, often with his girlfriend Meagan Good. What he says during his acceptance speech may give clues about his future plans.
