Paul Walter Hauser Reveals How He Prepares For His ‘Fantastic Four’ Role

He is thrilled to join the project and aims to bring something special to his character.

Paul Walter Hauser is getting ready for his role in Marvel Studios’ new ‘Fantastic Four’ movie, but he’s keeping details about his character a secret.

Hauser recently shared how he is preparing for this mystery role: by reading a lot of comic books and the movie’s screenplay. He told Variety he is figuring out how to fit into the story and make his character unique without repeating what others have done:

“Pre-production for me has been reading comic books and reading the screenplay. A lot of it is assessing where I fit into that story and how to best utilize my time in it. You don’t want to make choices or do things that are redundant in a film. It’s important to know what the film is and what everyone’s jobs are so that you’re bringing your own unique take to something.”

Hauser is excited about the role even though he didn’t read Fantastic Four comics before:

“It’s so fun, man. I didn’t really read Fantastic Four when I was a kid. I was very Batman-centric. But reading the Fantastic Four comics has been a blast. I love it.”

Rumors Suggest He’s The Mole Man

There are rumors that Hauser may be playing Mole Man, who’s the first enemy the Fantastic Four faced in the comics. But nothing has been confirmed. Hauser previously said that he is losing some weight for the part.

The actor had some doubts about joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe due to the poor reviews of past Fantastic Four movies, but he decided to join because he was impressed by the script, the team working on the film, and the talented cast. He believes this movie is something special.

‘Fantastic Four’ has a star-studded cast. Pedro Pascal will play Reed Richards, also known as Mr. Fantastic. Vanessa Kirby will play Sue Storm, the Invisible Woman. Joseph Quinn is Johnny Storm, the Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach will be Ben Grimm, also known as the Thing. Julia Garner will appear as a female version of the Silver Surfer named Shalla-Bal, and Ralph Ineson as the main villain, Galactus. John Malkovich will also be in the movie, but his role hasn’t been revealed yet.

The movie is set to hit theaters on July 25, 2025, and filming will start before the end of this month.
