Michael C. Hall will star in Paramount+’s new series ‘Dexter: Resurrection.’ The sequel will launch in the summer of 2025, picking up from where ‘Dexter: New Blood’ left off.
Dexter will be back although he bled out in the freezing cold in the last scenes of ‘New Blood,’ and showrunner Clyde Phillips confirmed his death at the time. Hall said on the matter when asked by Variety at San Diego Comic-Con:
“Was it [confirmed]? I don’t know what I am authorized to say other than, it’s really cold out there.”
The Sequel Will Possibly Be Multi-Season
‘Dexter: Resurrection’ will likely be an ongoing drama with ‘potentially’ multiple seasons rather than a limited series since the original show already rose to Number 2 on the Nielsen charts.
There’s a chance that Jennifer Morgan will be back as Debra opposite Michael C. Hall. The serial killer’s sister was shown in a flashback at the end of ‘New Blood.’ Hall said:
“Never say never. This world has sort of magical element, so I wouldn’t definitively say no to any proposition. There’s a whole cast of characters that populate his wider world and have the potential to re-emerge.”
Hall Will Be Back For A Prequel As Well
Paramount+ also revealed that Hall will be involved in a ‘Dexter’ prequel besides ‘Dexter: Resurrection.’ Paramount Co-CEO Chris McCarthy said at the recent Comic-Con:
“We are thrilled to have the brilliant Michael C. Hall reprise his iconic role as Dexter Morgan in Showtime’s most successful series ever. While ‘Dexter: Ressurection’ will appeal to the tens of millions of longtime fans, ‘Dexter: Original Sin’ will introduce a whole new generation of viewers into this iconic series by starting from the beginning, which is sure to satisfy existing audiences as well.”
The actor will serve as narrator in ‘Original Sin.’ Patrick Gibson will play Dexter in the story taking place 15 years before the original. The cast will also feature Christian Slater as Dexter’s father, Harry, and Molly Brown as Debra.
