Johnny Depp Pens Emotional Message For ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean’ Costar Tamayo Perry

Johnny Depp is heartbroken over his former co-star Tamayo Perry’s death.

Johnny Depp shared a tribute on Instagram Stories for his ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ co-star Tamayo Perry, who died in a shark attack in June.

The actor posted a black and white photo of Tamayo, writing:

“Even though it was some years ago now, I remember Tamayo well. A lovely man, with a huge heart and zest for life…”

He followed up with a note to Tamayo’s wife:

“Emilia, I send you all my love and strength. You are in my thoughts.”

Depp ended his post with a link to Tamayo’s GoFundMe page, which had raised $112,643 out of its $200,000 goal. Tamayo, a lifeguard and surf enthusiast, died at age 49 on June 23 after a shark attack while surfing off Oahu, Hawaii.

Honolulu Official Asked For Kindness

Shayne Enright of the Honolulu Emergency Services Department said during a press conference at the time:

“As you can imagine, this is [an] extremely difficult time for all of us. I ask for your kindness and your patience as we all just try to get through this next hour into these next weeks and months.”

Tamayo also appeared in 2002’s ‘Blue Crush’ and an episode of ‘Hawaii Five-O.’ The fundraising page, set up by his wife Emilia Perry, includes a tribute calling him a ‘hero.’ The page reads:

“We all want to be the hero of our own story, one of the redeeming characteristics of humanity is our desire to follow our convictions always and without fear. Few of us are able to truly be that hero, Tamayo Perry was is and will be forever. He was everyone’s big brother, stern and uncompromising with an infectious and kolohe smile.”

Emilia posted an update on Saturday, stating:

“The amount of love and support received is overwhelming and incredibly humbling.”

Perry had started working as a lifeguard on the North Shore for Honolulu Ocean Safety in July 2016.
