‘Superman’ Wraps Filming, James Gunn Confirms With Set Photo

Filming for the reboot started in February 2024 after a month of delay due to the SAG-AFTRA strike.

James Gunn recently shared a photo of the cast and crew from their first week of filming in Svalbard, Norway, on X. He announced in the caption:

“And that’s a wrap. God bless our cast and crew whose commitment, creativity, and hard work have brought this project to life. I set out to make a movie about a good man in a world that isn’t always so much. And the goodness and kindness and love I’ve encountered on a daily basis on the set has inspired me and thrust me forward when I felt too spent to move on my own. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.”

The production moved from Norway to Atlanta, Georgia, in March 2024, and to several other locations before concluding in Ohio. The director added:

“It has been an honor. The destination has been Superman, but the journey has been the toil and the laughter and the emotions and ideas and magic we’ve shared together on set – and for that I am forever grateful.”

The DCU Reboot Is In The Works

‘Superman’ is set for release on July 11, 2025. It stars David Corenswet as Superman alongside Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor.

The upcoming film marks the first live-action of Gunn’s rebooted DC Universe. The studio also works on a Supergirl adaptation to release on June 26, 2026. ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’ features Milly Alcock as the titular hero.

Meanwhile, the DCU’s new project, ‘Creature Commandos,’ waits to arrive in December 2024. Gunn shared the teaser for the adult animated series at San Diego Comic-Con 2024.

The director also revealed the new DC Studios logo. The new design took inspiration from the original one made by Milton Glaser in 1977.
