Ryan Reynolds Begs Marvel For More ‘Blade’ With Wesley Snipes

Ryan Reynolds wants Wesley Snipes to return as Blade in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Ryan Reynolds recently took to Instagram to want more ‘Blade’ movies from Marvel.

“The reaction when Wesley Snipes enters the movie is the most intense thing I’ve heard in a theater,” the actor wrote in the caption. “People screaming with uninhibited joy and love is also the sound of a legacy. More ‘Blade’ please.”

In ‘Deadpool and Wolverine,’ the biggest surprise was Wesley Snipes returning as Blade. It was more of a small supporting role than a cameo, especially for those who hadn’t heard the rumors. Snipes first played Blade in the 1998 movie ‘Blade.’ He returned for ‘Blade II’ in 2002 and ‘Blade: Trinity’ in 2004, which also starred Reynolds.

Mahershala Ali is still expected to play Blade in the new Marvel movie. Rumors suggest that Snipes’ return could lead to changes in the reboot. The reboot has faced many issues since it was announced over four years ago.

“Over the years, we’ve had very interesting conversations, some of them very substantive and some of them not,” Snipes spoke to EW about bringing his version of Blade back for a fourth time. “So I kind of resided that I was moving on from them, which is OK. I did three of them, and I thought they turned out pretty good. Not so bad… So we move on to other things, and bigger and better things, as well.”

Snipes added, “I did not think it was possible. I didn’t think we would be able to pull it off. I didn’t think that Marvel was into it, Disney was into it — also because they had Mahershala [Ali] cast for the next upcoming version of it…I thought it didn’t make sense to me, but [when] you get a call from Ryan Reynolds out of the blue after 20 years, you go, ‘OK, I got to take this call. Let’s see what this is about.’ He told me the idea…They said ‘yes’ and ‘it’s a go.’ ‘If you’re in, we’re in.’ Here we are.”

Snipes’ Blade was one of the old Marvel heroes to come back in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ Jennifer Garner’s Elektra and Chris Evans’ Johnny Storm also made a return.
