Joe Kerry Feels Sad Saying Goodbye To ‘Stranger Things’: I Owe My Career To It

The final season is currently in production.

The Steve Harrington actor, Joe Keery, talked about saying goodbye to ‘Stranger Things’ after being part of it for five seasons in a recent chat with Variety. The actor said:

“It’s been a core part of everyone’s lives, and had such a profound impact on my life, and what basically made my career. I owe so much to everybody there. I love the character, I love the story that we’re telling and the references of the movies that I grew up with.”

He went on:

“It’ll be weird to say goodbye, obviously. But there’s a part of every story that has to end and it feels like we’re getting towards it.”

Spinoffs May Follow The Finale

Filming for the final season will take around six more months. The release is planned for 2025 after facing delays due to the Hollywood actors and writers’ strikes.

Spinoff projects for ‘Stranger Things’ are possible after the finale, but without the original team, Eleven, Dustin, Lucas, and Hopper, according to creator Matt Duffer. Duffer told The Guardian:

“This season – it’s like season one on steroids. It’s the biggest it’s ever been in terms of scale, but it has been really fun, because everyone’s back together in Hawkins: the boys and Eleven interacting more in line with how it was in season one. And, yes, there may be spin-offs, but the story of Eleven and Dustin and Lucas and Hopper, their stories are done here.”

The Upcoming Season Is ‘Unbelievable’

The Netflix series’ lead, Millie Bobby Brown, has bittersweet feelings about concluding Eleven’s story this season. She said in March:

“We’re filming right now. And it feels good. It’s obviously our last season. So we’re really excited to be back together again for one last hurrah, but it does feel sad.”

The actress teased about the plot:

“Every day we go on set, we’re like, ‘It’s the last second day,’ ‘It’s the last third day!’ But we’re definitely embracing it all. It’s really nice to be back with everyone, and of course, the story is unbelievable.”

Brown previously also mentioned knowing how Eleven’s story would end but said the cast was yet to get the final episode’s script.
